Understanding your Benefits
Postdoctoral Research Associates are full-time Lehigh University employees hired in the Exempt Staff category of employment with full benefits. Positions with a salary under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exemption threshold ($684 per week, or $35,568 annually) are classified as non-exempt.

- Time Away From Work - Postdoctoral fellows qualify for all benefits available to that of exempt staff members, with the exception of vacation time. Instead of accruing vacation hours like an exempt staff member does, post docs are granted a two week paid leave that must be taken within their appointment period. They can manage that two week leave any way they'd like, provided they have their supervisor's approval.
