Finding a place to live near campus can be tough—especially when navigating short-term leases or U.S. credit checks. To help make things easier, the Postdoctoral Affairs Office has teamed up with Auxiliary Services to secure dedicated housing spots specifically for Lehigh postdocs.

This program grew right out of the feedback from our October 2025 housing survey. A huge thank you to LPDA former members Daniela Fonseca and Meraj Sohrabi for joining the initial site tours and helping design the survey that made this happen.

Why Choose Southside Commons?

  • Reserved Spots & Flexible Leasing: Units are held specifically for postdocs, with short-term (3+ mos) leases, starting any time of year.

  • Move-In Ready: Units are fully furnished with utilities and internet included. The individual, per-person leasing model is ideal for postdocs arriving solo who need an immediate, cost-effective landing spot.

  • Institutional Guarantee: We simplify the application by verifying the postdoc’s employment status. This serves as their financial guarantee, bypassing the need for U.S. credit history or co-signers.

  • Financial Support: Incoming postdocs can request a salary advance to assist with initial costs—a valuable, though often overlooked, university resource.

  • Urban Professional Setting: Located steps from campus, Southside Commons offers modern, "city-style" living. While the building hosts a vibrant student mix, it features dedicated quiet areas conducive to a postdoc lifestyle.

👥 A Quick Note on Layouts

All incoming and current Lehigh postdocs are welcome to apply. However, because Southside Commons rents by the individual bed, these spaces are set up for solo scholars and aren't able to accommodate families. You can See Floor Plans here to find a layout that works for you.
